The Tactical Games University

Tactical Games University (TGU)

TGU is a two-day training course designed to create and/or increase proficiency in safely operating both weapon systems used in TTG competition. Students of all skill levels are welcome.

Every TGU has an overwhelming emphasis on marksmanship and efficient weapon system manipulation. Utilizing these skills as our base, we further develop athletes by teaching them how to move into and out of shooting positions quickly and smoothly. These are the baseline abilities of any TTG competitor, and they are the foundation of our program. Applying these skills under duress, while navigating obstacles and/or using various barricades, prepares our athletes for whatever may come, whether it be at a match or on the job.

TGU is comprised of three distinct branches which work in unison to develop athletes to their highest potential. The end result is an athlete that’s able to perform with efficiency and precision, at speed and under duress, whether it be at a match or on the job. TGU also provides custom training options to agencies and units who would like to enhance their capabilities while increasing the usable life span of their officers/operators.

Each level of our program has an overwhelming emphasis on marksmanship and efficient weapon system manipulation. Utilizing these skills as our base, we further develop athletes by teaching them how to move into and out of shooting positions quickly and smoothly. These are the baseline abilities of any tactical athlete, and they are the foundation of our program. While refining these skills to higher and higher levels, we teach students the anatomy and physiology of basic Tactical Games movements, including lifting, carrying, dragging, and running. Applying these skills under duress, while navigating obstacles and/or using various barricades, prepares our athletes for whatever may come, whether it be at a match or on the job.

Athlete Camp: Three days of instruction

The BSP brings new shooters with limited firearms knowledge to a level where they can safely compete in a The Tactical Games event.

The CSP instructs students in the requisite skills needed to be a successful Tactical Games athlete.

The PSP is not competition centric, and teaches gun handling skills that can be applied to any environment the operator may find themselves in.

The LRP educates students in the art and science of hitting unknown sized targets at distance, under duress, with maximum efficiency.

Each of the above programs are divided into three levels (with the exception of the beginner class), with each level being taught over a weekend.

Beginner Class

The morning of day 1 will be an introductory class to pistol maintenance, assembly, and safety. Students will then move to the firing line and learn to draw, dry fire, make safe, and re-holster their pistols. These drills will be done first with dry firing with no live ammunition.

The afternoon of day 1 will be an introductory class to rifle maintenance, assembly, and safety. We will go over how to mount, and zero optics and a brief overview of offsets. Students will then move to the firing line and learn how to manipulate the rifle on a sling, and perform dry fire drills to build confidence before moving to live fire drills.

Day 2 will blend the pistol and rifle fundamentals learned on day 1. Students will learn how to safely handle their guns during the competition, and how to transition between firearms.

The BSP brings new shooters with limited firearms knowledge to a level where they can safely compete in a The Tactical Games event.

The Competition Shooting Program (CSP)

Level-one focuses on marksmanship and efficient movement. You will learn how to quickly and smoothly build and transition into and out of various shooting positions. As well as, equipment selection and set-up, weapon system manipulation, utilizing barricades and tank traps, shooting at angles, and much more. This class is for anyone who previously competed, wants to compete or just wants to become a more proficient shooter. We have had students in their 60’s attend this class and perform very well. Be prepared to learn in the classroom then apply what you’ve just learned on the firing line.

Level-two incorporates individual movement coaching with special attention to the anatomy and physiology of efficient task management as it pertains to a Tactical Games match. We cover each of the common movements in great detail, providing athletes with differentiated coaching on individual tasks. We then incorporate the movements into range drills so students can understand their new skills in the context of a competitive event. Expect to practice bag lifts and carries, sled drags, wall climbs, farmers carries, rope climbs, and much more, all while maintaining a high degree of marksmanship.

Level-three introduces students to a series of mock battles in order to test the skills they have learned in previous courses. The emphasis of this course is stage strategy, and each student will receive individual critique on their performance throughout the weekend. Video recording and playback will be utilized heavily in the classroom portion to analyze performance and push athletes to the highest level possible.
